MLK Jr Day

I'm ashamed to admit I haven't stopped to give Martin Luther King Jr. any special amount of thought on his holiday since I was in public school. I'm choosing to do that today. Maybe I'll try and read something about him, perhaps find out something I don't know.

The thing that strikes me now though, is that he's an example of someone who succeeded because he was well spoken. I'm partial to well spoken people since one of my hobbies is acting. I can appreciate someone who is either well prepared, or I'm sure is the case for our friend Martin, a total natural. For me to do an real acting I need to be a little bit of both. Ok I need to draw on my slight natural talent and a whole ass load of preparation.

He didn't though. He was just well read, introspective, and passionate. Also he was a natural. I love that fact that though he died well before I was born, I can experience his words. They are moving, truly moving. I'm not sure if I've ever heard someone actually before me sound so convincing. Its my hope that someday I do get to be in the room when someone so moves an audience the way he did.

Happy MLK Jr. Day everyone.

-Mike
