New Format

When I was in fifth grade I started a handwritten journal. I wrote in it off and on again for several years and after a while I developed a format. Each entry would have two sections: Daily Details, and The Big Picture. This format came from the observation that my meatier posts tended to have those two basic elements in them. Details about what I did that day, things like "went to the bank, hung out with Saul", and reflections on bigger issues, which at the time were things like "I think I have a crush on Nicole."

I'm pretty happy about the fact that I kept a journal. Every now and then I'd spend a night re-reading those old entries and the insight into my former life was always amazingly fascinating. Being older I could pick out patterns and trends in my life that were completely subconscious at the time.

So I plan on implementing that format now. My hope is that it will promote well developed and well thought out entries and discourage lazy, short, almost useless entries for the sake of entries. If previous performance is any indicator, I'll give up on that like most of this blog. Also, I hopefully won't say too much. I always hate the way people use these things as an excuse to say things they ought not to in public and thus draw attention to themselves.

So lets give this a shot.
